Introducing: North Sea Weekender 2021

The first North Sea Weekender hits North Tyneside this October. After providing our assistance with the artwork, we thought you give a lowdown on what to expect.

The 2021 line up

After the past 18 months it’s nice to have something new to look forward to eh!? Step forward the first North Sea Weekender (WKNDR). Lapping up on the shoreline between Whitley Bay and Tynemouth, the WKNDR brings us excitement in and out of the water.

In the water, the attention is primarily focused on Tynemouth Longsands and Cullercoats Bay. Tynemouth Surf Co. will be hosting various contests for men, women and the groms! Whilst in Cullercoats you can get involved in the Mega SUP Derby, SUP Intro, Paddlers Village and various race disciplines - all hosted by CBK Adventures and Northern SUP. Keep an eye out on social media for more events that could pop up as we get closer to the weekend.

If there’s one thing that’s been sorely missed amongst the never ending lockdowns and social distancing, it’s live music - intimate live music at that. The WKNDR more than delivers in this respect. Exciting local talent Heidi Curtis hits Tynemouth Surf Cafe, whilst Ben Ottewell (Gomez) will be appearing at the stunning TVLB Watch House. With more acts yet to be announced, there’s plenty to get your earholes around. Catch waves, throw shapes? (shameless plug). You can give both a damn good go!

If you’re not too keen on getting your feet wet, then you can also get your teeth into various food and drink pop ups, or take advantage of the many cafes, bars and shops that already adorn the Tyneside coast. Above all else, the WKNDR is a great opportunity to celebrate and showcase the local area - something everyone can get on board with (pun intended!).

The North Sea Weekender takes place on the weekend of 8-10th of October 2021. For extra information and ticketing links, head over to the WKNDR Facebook page. See you down the front?
